The unique, center driven, McLaren F1 is a rare and pricey car. Only 106 cars were made, of those, only 72 were built for the road.
I’ve had the pleasure of sitting in one myself once- but that’s as close as I have ever gotten. Likely, that’s as close as I’ll ever get to driving one.
A unique opportunity, however, has come up for the well-heeled buyer– albeit with a few, small, well…hitches.
Rowan Atikinson, AKA Mr. Bean, has put his McLaren F1 up for sale to the tune of $12 million. The car will be listed with British Auction house, Taylor & Crawley
The catch? Well, there were two accidents that Atkinson had–the first was a minor-ish scuff up–the second in 2011–he was lucky to walk away from. The repairs the F1 required ended up making it the most expensive insurance payout for a single car crash in Britain–$1.4 million.
The car was repaired by McLaren engineers and was back on the road in 2012. It hits the auction block soon.
