Leave Your Phone in Your Purse–Check Your Ringly

It was inevitable. Really.

We all have tried digital detox.

We’ve played the pile-your-phones-on-the-table-and-whoever-grabs-it-first-has-to-pay-game.

We’ve tried to ignore that 10,000th text from our boyfriend wondering when we’ll be home because the washing machine just dinged.

Enter Ringly–a clever and (DARE WE SAY IT!!) GORGEOUS (!!!) smart ring designed by a female entrepreneur by the name of Christina Mercando. Christina started her career at Hunch, Inc. a decision engine that was bought by eBay in early 2013. From there she moved to eBay as a Senior Design and Product Manager. But really, it’s no wonder she’s created such a gorgeous piece of technology–she majored in Fine Art and Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon according to her LinkedIn page.

The ring itself is a stylish cocktail ring with technology embedded underneath. Get an important email? The light on the side of the ring can glow blue. Text from your best friend? How about a quick buzz? Meeting coming up in a few minutes. Red alert–and the bonus–it’s all customizable based on the app. Oh, and to charge it–place the ring back into its velvet lined box, nightly. Done and done.

Someday soon, engagement rings all over the world will be glowing with envy.

Pre-order yours now for just $145 (though, sadly, the green emerald is currently sold out) and it will ship in the fall. Because wearables should be fashionable.

H/T to Facebook for actually targeting something the right way!

  • We all know the iPhones are going to be a little bigger, probably a better camera and different colours as nothing significant changes anymore. The iPads are going to probably be the same apart from they’ll have the fingerprint scanner on. They need to bring Steve Jobs back from the dead because their ‘innovation’ stopped when he died.
